Burberry is a traditional British brand that is known for it's timeless classics such as the cashmere scarf, Burberry check and the trench coat. Founded in 1856 by Thomas Burberry and worn by explorers, war soldiers and pilots, the brand fast become everyone's first choice for reliable good quality pieces.
After Gabardine was introduced to explorers it fast became the fabric choice for everyone, both explorers and to those who wanted to wear it in the cold and wet weather. Worn by the British soldiers in WW1 whilst in the trenches (that's were the name 'trench coats' came from) the trench coat has always been a stylish and classic coat design that everyone wears and loves. Fast forward to 2014 and the Burberry trench is still being labelled one of fashions must have coats.
Whilst working at Burberry I had the chance to learn all about the different products and the history behind each item. That included the trench coat, from selling it to customers and telling them about each individual piece from the D-rings to the gun flap, to trying the variety of different styles on for myself. It is lovely to be an owner of a Burberry trench and understand the history and craftsmanship that goes into each and every coat.
